We were so honored to be among a group of select fandom accounts that Lionsgate invited to Las Vegas for an exclusive 3 day trailer launch event during CinemaCon. This fandom trip of a lifetime included a viewing of the first official trailer the day before anyone else at a private event within The Hunger Games Exhibition, a Q&A with director Francis Lawence and producer Nina Jacobson, and a hospitality suite with some fantastic merch. This is going to be a LOOOONG post so I’ll make the Q&A its own post HERE

First, we were treated to a hospitality suite complete with Academy and Peacekeeper (authentically) costumed attendants. The gift bags in the suite contained Ballad tee shirts and hoodies! The new merch just launched on Lionsgate.com.

We also got a private tour and the chance to view brand new, never before seen costumes from The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes at The Hunger Games Exhibition within MGM Grand. All of the costumes we viewed at the event are also seen in the new trailer, which was extra exciting! All designed by the one and only Trish Summerville.

Lucy Gray Baird’s famous RAINBOW DRESS! Rachel said on twitter that the bodice is hand painted. It's also leather, which is hard to see. Note the snake details. Did you catch the snake bracelet she was wearing in the trailer?

Tom Blyth’s Coriolanus Snow Academy costume.

Jason Schwartzman’s Lucretius “Lucky” Flickerman costume.

Here’s Viola Davis’ Dr. Gaul costume from the opening scene of the trailer.

Here’s one of Hunter Schafer’s new Tigris Snow costumes from the trailer, in front of the original Tigris costume from Mockingjay Part 2.

FYI, the costumes were there one night only for the private event and can’t currently be viewed at the exhibition. Hopefully, they’ll be permanently displayed once the film is released.

After the Exhibition we were ushered into a private screening room where 2 large screens showed The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes golden logo and 3 empty chairs sat up front on the dais. We all knew what that meant - we were seeing the TRAILER and someone important was there to do a Q&A. They showed us the trailer TWICE! And then director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson came out for a very insightful and informative Q&A. The full Q&A can be found in this post

A photographer snapped pics and then we had more time to talk to our heroes, Francis and Nina. They were so gracious with us and probably would have stood there answering our questions all night. I’ll post some of what we found out from that conversation in the Q&A post linked above.

Dreams DO come true in Vegas, baby! Massive thanks to Lionsgate for bringing in fan sites and fandom social media accounts from all over the world for this spectacular opportunity. We appreciate it SO much.
