Jennifer Lawrence Tops Forbes List of Most Powerful Actresses

Photo by Arthur Mola/Invision/APJennifer Lawrence ranks 12th on Forbes annual Celebrity 100 power list, and #1 on their Power Actress List this year. Forbes' Celebrity 100 measures earnings and fame to rank the 100 most powerful celebrities in the worlds of movies, TV, books, sports, music and modeling. Earnings estimates are based on dozens of conversations with agents, producers, lawyers and other in-the-know folks. The Power Actress list is derived from the Celebrity 100.
From Forbes:
Action heroes don’t always have to be men. That’s the lesson actress Jennifer Lawrence is teaching Hollywood, $1 million at a time. As Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movies, she fights for her life against a tyrannical government without spending much time worrying about which boy she’s going to choose. Her butt-kicking ways have helped the franchise earn $1.5 billion so far with two more movies on the way.
She also showed off her action chops in the recent X-Men: Days of Future Past. As shape-shifting mutant Mystique, Lawrence had plenty of fight scenes and her star power helped make the movie the highest-grossing of the X-Men films with $700 million at the global box office so far.
Oh, and Lawrence can also act. Just 23 years old, Lawrence has been nominated for three Academy Awards. She won the Best Actress award in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.
That combination of action hero and award-winning actress makes Jennifer Lawrence the most powerful actress in Hollywood right now. We estimate that she earned $34 million between June 2013 and June 2014. Lawrence ranks 12th on our Celebrity 100 power list, which makes her the highest-ranked actress.

The Capitol PN Releases a New Still of Peeta + Introduces Capitol Concerns

The Capitol PN added an eerie image of Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark to their formerly solo portrait of Donald Sutherland as President Snow. It was chilling to check the site this morning and see Peeta added! We're loving the way they're marketing this film. It's truly making us feel like a citizen of Panem, getting propaganda straight from The Capitol. And if you've been with us from the beginning and have explored our site, you know that's RIGHT up our alley.

The Capitol PN also introduced a new feature today: Capitol Concerns, "an open forum to submit questions, suggestions, and concerns for immediate review and timely resolution" from The Capitol and President Snow himself. We have a feeling that your concerns will be given the UTMOST attention. Perhaps after submitting your concern you'll be brought directly to The Capitol for further "discussion." Hmmm.

Jena Malone Gets Emotional Performing The Shoe's "I'm Okay"

We just want to give Jena Malone a hug after watching her emotionally raw performance of The Shoe's 'I'm Okay" with Lem Jay Ignacio for National Post Sessions.

Four minutes into the first recorded performance of I’m Okay, the title track of The Shoe’s debut LP, the actress and singer Jena Malone tilted her head, closed her eyes and let a tear gently stream down the side of her face.
Asked about the emotional moment later, Malone says the spirit simply took her. “Sometimes his instrumentals kill me. It’s a beautiful thing for a song to bring you to a place that’s so authentic you get moved by it.”

Join Jena and Lem Jay for a Google Hangout tomorrow (Friday, June 27th) at 10:00am PST. You can buy The Shoe's debut album here.
