MOCKINGJAY PART 2 - Victory Tour Posters

Check out the new Victory Tour Poster sets which have recently been revealed on Capitol Couture. These Victory Tour Posters take a look back into Capitol Archives to recognize the previous victors of The Hunger Games.

Thus far, Capitol Couture has recognized Porter Millicent Tripp, The 38th Hunger Games Victor, and Mags Flanagan, the 11thHunger Games Victor - the very same Mags that appears much later in her life in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

From Capitol Couture:

Mags Flanagan, immortalized here as a young woman, looks as fierce and tenacious as ever. Her triumphant win in the 11th Hunger Games made her a household name and Panem’s sweetheart for years to come. It’s incredible to think this stoic girl is the same woman that smiled so warmly and fought so valiantly alongside Katniss Everdeen in the 75th Hunger Games.

Fashioning olive fatigues, Mags’ vintage look feels surprisingly on-trend with the current wave of militia attire. This, paired with minimal makeup, makes Mags look devastatingly elegant and timeless. Could Mags have been an overlooked style icon? Capitol Couture thinks so.

As fabulous and eye-catching as this heroic imagery is, and while Mags returned to the Games during the most recent Quarter Quell, these iconic Victory Tour posters remained under lock and key until now… perhaps saving them for greater impact when the message was needed most by The Capitol Gamemakers? Only time will tell.

Porter Millicent Tripp from District 5. For those of you that don’t remember, Tripp earned her “halo” and a broken neck after a spinal injury she received in the Games’ final showdown. She posed for her Victory Tour poster wearing a form-fitting navy bodysuit with bright orange Capitol insignias. The complimentary colors draw you in while her defiant look makes her an unforgettable victor. We at Capitol Couture are still in awe of you, Porter. Well done indeed.

Stay tuned to Capitol Couture and Capitol TV for more.

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Marketing Campaign - Suzanne Collins Approves!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire made the cover of the October 29th issue of Variety. The issue has loads of new photos and an article on how The Hunger Games changed Lionsgate, Jennifer Lawrence, and what the future brings for the franchise and the studio. Check out that article and photos HERE. Variety has another really interesting article about Lionsgate CMO Tim Palen and the innovative marketing campaign he's spearheading for Catching Fire. Oh, and the coolest thing about it? Suzanne Collins approves.

From Variety.com

Just as The Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins introduced a dystopian world that entranced millions of readers and moviegoers, so Lionsgate’s marketing chief Tim Palen has brought that universe to life in an elaborately detailed campaign for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire that goes beyond traditional movie posters, billboards, trailers and websites to establish a unique realm of its own.

Palen’s innovative ideas — not the least of which was setting the book’s iconic mockingjay logo ablaze — helped propel the first of four planned Hunger Games movies to nearly $700 million in global ticket sales. He’s now taken the marketing narrative and imagery to a new level in hopes of broadening the audience for the upcoming Nov. 22 release beyond teens and tweens to the faith and family crowd, Hispanics, African-Americans, fashionistas, even seniors.

For Palen, whose soft-spoken, understated demeanor defies a fierce, tattooed marketing warrior with a meticulously plotted battle plan, Catching Fire has unleashed the 51-year-old’s creative ingenuity, and he’s seized the opportunity to tell a bigger, more color-saturated story through provocative visuals, bringing a complimentary world to life that has connected with Collins’ rabid fan base.

“This was dramatically different from anything we did on the first movie,” Palen says. “It was brave of the filmmakers to agree we should be that bold.”

During the year-long campaign that launched last November, Palen went so far as to create a faux online fashion magazine, dubbed Capitol Couture, modeled after luxury publications like DuJour, Gotham and Ocean Drive, built around the ultra-rich and style-obsessed capitol city of Panem, the fictional nation in the bestselling author’s trilogy of young adult novels. The mag features manufactured articles curated by freelance journalist Monica Corcoran Harel, and photos of the film’s characters that reveal their elaborate look, shot by Palen himself.

With Palen crafting the images and message, Hunger Games is well protected. He’s as much of a fan of the franchise as the teens and tweens who made the original film a hit, and passed the books on to their friends and family. Collins has a loyal friend in the marketing topper.

“I’m thrilled with the work Tim Palen and his marketing team have done on the film,” Collins told Variety via email. “It’s appropriately disturbing and thought-provoking how the campaign promotes ‘Catching Fire’ while simultaneously promoting the Capitol’s punitive forms of entertainment. The stunning image of Katniss in her wedding dress that we use to sell tickets is just the kind of thing the Capitol would use to rev up its audience for the Quarter Quell (the name of the games in Catching Fire). That dualistic approach is very much in keeping with the books.”

Pretty much every element of the sequel’s campaign is bolder than its predecessor. Where the first installment relied on a more subdued look to capture Collins’ bleak, oppressed world, Palen and the author felt this was his chance to brighten things up.

“This is the book and the movie of color,” he says, having consulted closely with Collins before designing the campaign. “This is the moment where we can actually have some fun and explore some opportunities that we might not get to have later,” he added, referring to the final book in the Hunger Games series, which Lionsgate is splitting into two movies, Mockingjay — Part 1 and Part 2.

The line will launch this fall in time for the November 22nd premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

From the press release:

NET-A-PORTER celebrates the hotly anticipated release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with an exclusive capsule collection inspired by the movie. Created by the film’s multi award-winning costume designer Trish Summerville, Capitol Couture features laser-cut leather, streamlined silhouettes and dramatic eveningwear.

"I am extremely proud of the designs that we created for 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' and there's no partner more appropriate for 'Capitol Couture' than the world's most cutting-edge luxury retailer," Summerville said.  "I can't wait to share it with the public through this exclusive partnership with Lionsgate and NET-A-PORTER."

Holli Rogers, Fashion Director, NET-A-PORTER.COM, stated, "When we were approached by Lionsgate to offer the collection by Trish Summerville to our customers exclusively, we jumped at the chance.  Our customers take their style cues from myriad sources, from the latest runway shows and street trends to TV and film.  Fashion plays an important role in The Hunger Games series and is especially prevalent in Catching Fire, and fans of the franchise will see the film reference in the collection.  This is also brilliant fashion in its own right, and we're delighted to provide our customers with the chance to purchase limited-edition pieces designed by one of the most original costume designers in the industry today."

Tim Palen, Lionsgate's Chief Marketing Officer, said, "In the world of The Hunger Games, one of the ways the Capitol defines itself is through fashion.  When we launched Capitol Couture online (capitolcouture.pn), it took off and quickly became an out-of-world experience for both fans of the franchise and those obsessed with the future of fashion.  Trish Summerville's Capitol Couture collection for NET-A-PORTER is a brilliant, elegant and chic extension of this effort."

The Capitol Portraits: Here's What YOU Think

Capitol Portrait Edit by i-want-to-know-nothingLast week was a crazy whirlwind of fangirling/fanboying as Capitol Couture revealed the Official Capitol Portraits. Yay! Now that we've all had a little time to come down from our adrenaline rush and study the portraits a bit (obsessively), we wanted to share YOUR hilarious, poignant and  - as always - brilliant thoughts on the (mostly) hits and misses.

Reactions From Twitter:

Liza H @bizcochito73: Johanna! Was a top notch reprisal of the character, her wit, wild, brave, unwavering spirit. Fierce and cunning.

Just A Normal Girl @Normal_Girl: Even though Peeta is my favorite character, Gale's portrait just captures the whole essence of his character

Luchii Sotelo @LulaSotelo: Finnick, Peeta and Katniss are the best!!

Tatiana @FairieWriter: Finnick! (What can I say? I'm a huge Sam fan.) Other than that, Katniss. Love her, her dress, and her attitude.

Rosie @lovettspastries: Totally Effie! Her dress is stunning.

Joan @joanlh9: I love the McQueen-esque vibe in Johanna'a dress again. Are we sure Sarah Burton isn't behind the scenes somewhere there?!?!

Kevin Dunlap @kdunlap53: Woody Harrelson plays a great Haymitch. You can just see the sadness in his face!

Jen's Spark @WiressBeetee: Amazing "wirey" details on Beetee's waistcoat and trousers! Simply Stunning!!

HutcherBride @HutcherBride: THEY ALL HAVE WHITE ROSES IN THEIR HANDS, I'M SCREAMING.

Jessi @raineygrey: Finnick's face is perfect! He's sexy and pretty but it's obvious there's more to him than that. He has a loaded expression.

JJ @jj_watching: Finnick's portrait perfectly fits the books. He's sexy but you can see the sadness in his eyes for being forced into this role.

Sam Claflin Fans @SamClaflinFans: Finnick is not what we expected, but it's better. It's unique and says a lot about what's to come.

Maggi Rippelmeyer @MaggiNoel: I think Gale's white rose is perfect. Let's not forget that Snow uses Gale as a way to get into Katniss' head!

GuyTribute @C4tnipEv3rdeen: Johanna!!! She's fierce...Represents her perfectly.

Connor Hale @OhHaletotheno: I think Katniss was the most elegant and beautiful one. She's gorgeous and I love her!

Jaycie Marie Black @JaycieBlack: Katniss is absolutely stunning in that dress! When I first saw it my jaw dropped! And the mockingjay wiring? #OMG!

RealornotrealNews @THG_RONRNews: Peeta, Katniss and Finnick! They are amazing!

Morgan Herreras @gigglegirl7307: the silver twisty things around the top of Katniss' dress are a silhouette of a mockingjay #WHAT!?!?!

Jennifer's Oscar @pandemoniumD13: PEETA.♥ Josh is basically my favorite person on this earth so...

Tisha Maldonado @TishaMaldonado: (on Peeta) omg. How gorgeous can one person be?? I loved those portraits, esp Katniss and Peeta. Completely giddy w/excitement!!

Everlark Edit by ariverofpureemotion

Katniss Granger @CatnippMellark: Why isn't there a new timer? We want Prim. And Plutarch. And Mags. And Wiress.

Amanda B @amandab716: So bummed about no #CapitolPortrait of Plutarch. Seriously!? How does it even make sense to omit him!?

RealornotrealNews @THG_RONRNews: This is sad!! #NoMoreCFPortraits We wanna see Plutarch!

Romulus Thread @HG_Peacekeeper: Peeta's picture shows that Uggs carry on in a post apocalyptic world

Holy Bechloe Feels @swiftlyvoegele: (on Snow) as my sister says, "Nobody likes you, go home"
