'Catching Fire' at Cannes - Jennifer Lawrence to Attend Saturday Night Party

It looks like Lionsgate is throwing one hell of a party Saturday night to promote Catching Fire at Cannes and Jennifer Lawrence is going to be the main attraction!

More details are coming out about Catching Fire's presence at this year's Cannes Film Festival. As we told you here, Lionsgate has taken over the Magestic Barriere Hotel and are showing Catching Fire footage to sell Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 to international buyers.

 Now Deadline is reporting:

Lionsgate is organizing a beach blow-out to promote Catching Fire even though it doesn’t release until November. Spectacularly Catching Fire is literally aflame at the entrance to the Majestic Hotel thanks to animations projected onto screens.

Lionsgate co-chair Patrick Wachsberger who’s wheelhouse is international also utilized Cannes to promote all the Twilight movies when he ran Summit. Now that the two studios are merged, he says with candor that he’s never done an event “at this level”. But because Hunger Games is a “huge, huge, huge” franchise, this festival is “the perfect place” to start talking to distributors about positioning, he notes. Cannes events “are not cheap,” notes. “And there is so much happening – like ten parties the same night – so to do something that’s really out of the ordinary, you need the movie first and the talent and the event and the money,” Wachsberger admits.

And The Hollywood Reporter adds:

The splashiest event of all is likely to be Lionsgate’s Saturday night party for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, one of the most coveted tickets in town. Freshly crowned Oscar- winner Jennifer Lawrence is sure to attract crowds in and outside of the party. All of the Hunger Games films were sold independently internationally and Saturday’s soiree is a nod to those who have supported the franchise.

Get ready for some amazing photos on Saturday night!

Oh my gosh! I am truely dedicated to this trilogy! The Hunger Games has truely changed my life. Jennifer Lawrence has inspired me to act so I am already in a few plays and have almost convinced my parents to let me get an agent! I cannot describe how it makes me feel. Speechless, Excited..... you see! no words can describe this sensation! The Hunger Games is WAY better than Twilight and Harry Potter. No One Direction Either! The reason being: The Hunger Games is real. It is a REAL story of a REAL girl of something that can REALLY happen. No, i admit it is not entirely true, but is truely amazing. I crysometimes when I watch the movie, which I have seen 11 times. Even the book too, which i have read 2 times and just open up when I am depressed and just read for hours on end until i am satisfied and happy again. Let me say, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are Amazing at what they do! Jen, you are my role model in life, and i will always look up to you. Keep doing what you are doing, and never stop dreaming. May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor.
