Production Notes From Mockingjay Part 1 Released - Runtime, Cast & Crew Interviews + Much More
The awesome production notes for Mockingjay Part 1 have been released on the LionsgateUK PR site and they are a wealth of really cool information from the film. Everything from the official runtime - 123 minutes - to cast interviews, interviews with the make-up artisits, production designers - it's a Mockingjay Jackpot!
Here are OUR favorite bits from the document:
Jennifer Lawrence on Katniss Everdeen:
“She goes into the propos feeling like a pawn, like the Mockingjay is just a symbol she’s not connected to or passionate about. The whole idea of the propos is to get people fired up, to band together - so Katniss faking at being something that she’s not doesn’t work. It’s only when she sees the human cost in District 8 that a true spark is ignited. The more she sees, the more it becomes a personal fight for her.”
Elizabeth Banks on Effie:
“Her new job is to ensure Katniss is the ultimate celebrity face of the rebellion, the perfect Mockingjay. Her job hasn’t really changed from the Games. Effie also remains one of the few people who’s never lied to Katniss. She never had to, because she truly didn’t know what was going on, and now she still has Katniss’ trust,”
Producer Nina Jacobson:
“It’s a very tense and powerful story and the emotions on screen are surprisingly deep. It takes you to places you will not expect to be taken. It’s provocative, thoughtful and up to the last minutes of the film, the way it unfolds is shocking.”
Sam Claflin on Finnick Odair:
"You find out that everything you knew about Finnick, all his bravado and verve, has been largely for show," he comments. "I think for any actor, playing the underside of a beloved character is incredibly interesting' There are moments where he flashes a smile where you'll remember he's still the old Finnick, with all those elements everyone knows and loves, but at the same time, there's a new side I get to reveal."
There are fantastic details on the costumes and make-up - did you know Evan Ross is wearing prosthetic EARS in the film?!
Evan Ross wore prosthetic ears for the prodigiously pierced Messalla. "Messalla has notches cut out of one of his ears, implant piercings and he has quite a bit of Capitol jewelry that would have been typical of someone in his line of work," Neill points out, "And Evan was actually willing to get all those piercings but we would have had to wait for them to heal, so instead, we used prosthetics that Glenn built - and the result was really cool looking."
There's so much incredible information included - it's definitely a must-read. Download the Mockingjay Part 1 production notes HERE.
