100 Days of Mockingjay - Your THG Story
Suzanne Collins created The Hunger Games from an idea born of late night channel surfing between real war coverage and reality television. Suzanne, the daughter of a career military man and Vietnam Veteran, has said that she wanted to write an age-appropriate war story for every age group. The Hunger Games is her war story for young adults. The trilogy's themes of poverty, socio-economic disparity, government corruption, propaganda, revolution, redemption, and the consequences of war don't make the trilogy a typical YA light read. But I think that's also why we love it so much.
The Hunger Games means many different things to many different people. For some, the heroine, Katniss Everdeen, is a strong and inspiring female role model, for some she motivates as a survivor of poverty and PTSD. She's complicated, imperfect, damaged and an incredibly compelling lead character.
Some people simply adore the love stories - Peeta and Katniss are the catalysts for countless Everlark fan fics. Everthorne, Odesta, any 'ship you sail in The Hunger Games certainly isn't all hearts and flowers and the romances in the books are tinted with sadness. Not a typical happy ending to be found anywhere in the trilogy, yet we relish them all the same.
In Thailand, citizens have identified with The Hunger Games and used its three finger salute as a symbol to combat injustice. Odds In Our Favor uses the salute along with their #MyHungerGames initiative to highlight economic inequality in the world.

The Hunger Games mean a lot to me. They made me think about the world we live in and how it's not really that different from Panem.
"What I need is the dandelion in the spring." My favorite quote. Katniss is full of fire and Peeta is full of peace. I feel this way about me and my husband, I have the fire and he keeps the peace.
To me, Hunger Games is so important. Like if you describe me in one word, it's hunger games ! (Okay, two words!) Because first, it's my favourite book (trilogy), second, I know, like, everything about it and I think that Suzanne Collins is so amazing, and she write so well.. Hunger Games means to me that liberty is so important and hope's an absolute need ! Without hope, we can't survive. Katniss proves it and I like her so much. Thanks Hunger games <3
Hello, my name is Sandra. I'm 18 years old and this is my story. It was 2011 and my cousin was at my house and I saw her reading the Hunger Games and she was like "No!!" And " I'm in love with Peeta", while she was reading the book. So I was like " what's so great about this book?" She looked at me and say "Here read it " at first I was like "No thanks" but I started reading it. "When I wake up, the other side of my bed is cold" and I continued reading it. After 4 days I couldn't stop reading. And in my birthday my cousin ( which her name was Valerie) give me her 3 hunger games books. That was like the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!! I was so happy I ran to my house and started reading Catching Fire. And After a couple of weeks I started reading Mockingjay. I cry when I finish the book and my cousin tell me " I know, I know I cry too" It was the perfect ending. Months passed and we found out there was going to be a movie about the hunger games... I was so happy and I called me cousin and she was so excited too. We played everything. We were going to be watched the movie together. I was so happy because Josh Hutcherson was going to play Peeta and she was so happy because Jennifer Lawrence was going to play Katniss. My cousin didn't watched the movies. She die on December of 2011. I was so sad because she was my BFF. So I started to read the books again so I can feel like she was with me. On March when the Movie came out I bought two tickets because I wanted her to be with me during the movie. I know she was ther with me watching the movie, and I know she loved it. When I went to see Catching Fire and Mockingjay Part 1 I also bought 2 tickets because I knew she wasted to see this movies so bad and I can also feel her every time I watch the movies. THG change my life thanks to Valerie and I'll never forget her!!!!
My Hunger Games story started in 2011 when I first picked up the book! It was recommended to me by my mother, She read the entire trilogy in one week! I have been in love since the first chapter I'm A super fan and My room shows it haha, I take every opportunity to draw or create something hunger Games Related! I put my heart into each one of the projects and This has been the way it is for almost 5 years, I've gone to Marathons and bought as much merchandise as possible It'll be tough to not expect a movie every November, but we as fans will never forget and we'll always remember The Girl On Fire heart emoticon
