Eugenie Bondurant is Tigris in 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2'

It's official! Eugenie Bondurant has been cast as Tigris in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. In the book, Tigris was once a reknown stylist in the Hunger Games and is now a shopkeeper selling fur-lined clothes in a small shop in the Capitol. Her appearance has been surgically altered to resemble a feline. The response to Eugenie's casting has been overwhelmingly postitive and we can't wait to see how they bring this character to life in the film.

It's Official! Michelle Forbes is Jackson in 'Mockingjay Part 2'

Lionsgate announced today that Michelle Forbes has been cast as Lt. Jackson in Mockingjay Part 2. This casting has been rumored for a few weeks so it's good to get the confirmation.

Forbes has done tons of tv work. You may recognize her from True Blood, The Killing, Chicago Fire and Orphan Black among others.

For those a little rusty on their Mockingjay (time to re-read!) Jackson is a soldier from District 13 and Boggs' second in command. She's a member of Star Squad who is an ace sharpshooter and she's also the one who comes up with the "real or not real" game to help Peeta.

Jena Malone Talks Johanna in Bullett Magazine, "She Almost Killed Me"

Photos by James Orlando for BullettJena Malone covers Bullett Magazine's Volume XIII The Lost Issue. She talks about her band with Lem Jay Ignacio, The Shoe, her upcoming projects and about playing Johanna in The Hunger Games films.

From Bullett:

If Malone’s Donnie Darko experience predated today’s obsessive fan worship, the actress tossed herself directly into the vortex when she accepted the role as the plum-haired, axe-wielding Johanna Mason in a little movie called The Hungers Games: Catching Fire, which to this date has grossed $850 million worldwide. In the film, her character, a former winner of the titular games, is furious at having to unexpectedly fight in another life-or-death competition after having been promised a pampered life filled with the spoils of victory. While on a live television broadcast, she tells the interviewer that yes, in fact, she is very angry. “Fuck that! And fuck everyone that had anything to do with it!” she screams, unleashing a rare, bleeped out F-bomb in the family-friendly franchise. Eventually, she forms an unlikely alliance with the film’s protagonist, Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence).

Malone, who is set to reprise the pivotal role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, the franchise’s third and final installment (it will be divided into two movies), approached the role with the vigor of a method actor. “When you first meet Johanna, she’s got enemy written all over her,” Malone says.

“She’s violent and sexual and caustic and nefarious. But she has a big arch of friend or foe. But she’s fierce. What I really wanted to explore with her was learning anger. Anger has to be so genuine or it feels so fake, like a fake sneeze. So, the first week of shooting, I didn’t talk to anyone. I needed to have this intimidation factor. I had all this [angry] energy surging through me. She almost killed me. A month and a half in, I learned how to turn her off, but at first she was dangerous.”

Natalie Dormer Talks About "Doing Right By The Book" With Cressida's Shaved Head in Glamour

Photos by Nick Dorey/Edits by stormborns.tumblr

Natalie Dormer is featured in the upcoming June issue of Glamour magazine. She talks about her roles in Mockingjay and Game of Thrones and, of course, the hair thing.

"It’s fascinating how much of our sense of attractiveness and feminine identity is bound up in our hair. But in the Mockingjay novel, Cressida is described as having a shaved head and a vine tattoo, and I wanted to do right by the book."

So how'd she feel about the dramatic cut? "Peculiar at first, but then you take a deep breath and keep everything in perspective, " she says. "It just takes some time to get used to. My fiance (writer and director Anthony Byrne) has very short, spiky hair, and I think a lot of women like the sensation of rubbing their fingers over quite short, shaved hair. I certainly do. But I've normally done that with the men in my life - not on the side of my own head! A lot of my friends ask to touch my head, I just stand there and get stroked for five minutes - it’s a free massage!" And when it comes down to it, Dormer is a no B. S. woman:

"Cutting one side of your head for a few months is not a big deal compared with what other people have to deal with in the world. Plus, hair grows back."

One of the unexpected side effects of her wild hair is a wilder fashion sense. "When half of your head is shaved, you can play more. I think sometimes people are scared of the critique. I get it - it’s terrifying when images go online within half an hour. But passing judgement on someone else is a reflection of your own insecurities. We all make mistakes. We all have a fashion faux pas, choose the wrong script, write the wrong song. But it’s only by taking chances and occasionally getting it wrong that we grow."

Effie Trinket Cosplayer Surprises Kids at Mississippi School

All photos CHRISTOPHER BOSTICK/SUN HERALD

It's been a LOOONG time, but I don't remember my elementary school doing anything this cool. Ocean Springs Upper Elementary in Ocean Springs, MS invited the cosplaying father/daughter team of Jeff and Cami Roebuck to the school Friday dressed as Marvel Comics' Agent Phil Coulson and The Hunger Games' Effie Trinket (in an amazing replica of the butterfly dress from Catching Fire) to promote Free Comic Book Day at 3 Alarm Comics, a local comic book store.

During the annual event on the first Saturday of May, the local comic book industry comes together and gives away comic books to help promote literacy. "Every year, I get to talk about Free Comic Book Day on the announcement," assistant teacher Jason Quaregna said, "and (this year I) wanted to one-up it. So we brought the cosplayers in and the kids got really excited to see it."

"I love making stuff like this," said Jeff Roebuck of MoodHairCosplay, who was dressed as Coulson with a homemade gun prop in hand and a S.H.I.E.L.D. ID badge from the movie. "But the icing on the cake is going out and watching people freak out."

And freak out the students did. The cosplayers conducted a "Hunger Games"-style reaping, and the students received free comic books as their names were drawn. They got to ask the cosplayers questions, then to visit with them during lunch.

"I could feel the students' excitement when Effie came in. You could hear the students' gasps and I think it's just wonderful because it brought the films alive." said Carla McCaleb, assistant principal and sixth-grade administrator.

The Roebucks are no strangers to cosplaying. The veteran family's passion for bringing characters to life has taken them to several comics conventions where they've dressed as many colorful characters.

"I've been cosplaying since I was 7," said Cami, dressed head to toe in a butterfly outfit inspired by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Cami even won First Place (as Effie, natch) in The Hunger Games DVD release costume contest.
