Lorde Releases the "Yellow Flicker Beat" Music Video & Talks About Her Inspiration

Lorde has released the new music video for "Yellow Flicker Beat" off the Mockingjay Part 1 Original Soundtrack. What do you guys think of it?

This video is something i’m really proud of. There are so many beautiful shots and moments, and it’s really worth watching it a few times (in the highest possible quality ;~)) to see all the details.

when i was dreaming it up, i wasn’t thinking too hard about story or a specific narrative, more a mood; a harsh, crackling heat. yellow flicker beat is about katniss realizing that things have crossed a line, about being pushed to the edge and right over it. my character in this video, whether she’s weaving her way through a decadent ballroom, hiding out in a grimy, neon-lit motel room (her hair ever-so-slightly dishevelled), or waiting in the night for her bus to come dressed in her whitest clothes, is a shapeshifter, full of intensity and impulse, kind of like katniss. whether she’s in a small space or a cavernous one, she’s fiery.

 i don’t really know what i’m trying to explain to you here, but don’t read the video like a story, just let it take you somewhere.

Lorde to Release "Yellow Flicker Beat" Music Video Wednesday at 6:00am ET

Lorde was tweeting up a storm about the Yellow Flicker Beat music video this afternoon. She let everyone know that the video is FINALLY done and that she's going to debut it tomorrow morning at 6:00am EST, as the clocks tick over in New Zealand and she officially turns 18. She even shared some stills from the video, which looks like it has nothing to do with the movie - maybe The Capitol?? We're still hoping for some movie footage!

A short but sweet new Mockingjay Part 1 video clip debuted on Good Morning America today. We got to see Josh Hutcherson as Peeta uttering part of one of the most poignant quotes in the book:

"When you're in the Games you only get one wish and it's very costly."

“Oh, no. It costs a lot more than your life. To murder innocent people?" says Peeta. "It costs everything you are.”

Mockingjay Part 1 L.A. Premiere Opportunities for Fans

 

This year in lieu of a traditional “Fan Camp” at the Los Angeles premiere of Mockingjay Part 1, tickets to the Mockingjay premiere and red carpet fan-bleacher access will be given out on the day of the premiere (Monday, November 17th) at Nokia Theater on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS via wrist bands. This information is directly from Lionsgate. 

Monday, Nov 17th: 3:00PM  Ticket / Wristband pick-up @ Will Call 'FAN SECTION' at Nokia Theater. The official rules say you cannot camp out overnight - so you better get there early, tributes! 

Parking for this event available at LOT 7 located on FIGUEROA - across from The Staples Center.

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks & Donald Sutherland Will Talk Mockingjay Part 1 on eTalk

Canadian entertainment show ETALK has a 30-minute Mockingjay Part 1 special, ETALK PRESENTS: THE HUNGER GAMES MOCKINGJAY PART 1, premiering Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV. The show will feature interviews with Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, and Donald Sutherland.

Starting this Wednesday, November 4th they're previewing bits of the interviews on their nightly show - 7pm ET on CTV. ETalk did a similar thing last year with Catching Fire. You can check out the video from last year HERE.  The interviews will be available the day after the broadcast on eTalk's website. And, obviously we'll get them posted here too! 

Also on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT  The Hunger Games film will have its Canadian broadcast premiere on CTV, CTV.ca, and CTV GO
