Willow Shields Promotes Mockingjay Part 1 in Chicago + An Extended Mockingjay Part 1 Clip

Willow Shields went all the way to Chicago to promote Mockingjay Part 1 today. Willow was on Windy City Live, Good Day Chicago, and ABC 7 News and also went to Benito Juarez High School, where she spoke to the students - lucky school! Windy City Live showed a new clip, which is an extended peek at the scene where Katniss and Prim are speaking in their compartment in District 13.

Willow Shields on Jennifer Lawrence, "She really is like a sister to me."

Willow Shields spoke with InStyle.com about her Hunger Games on-screen sister and real-life friend and confidant, Jennifer Lawrence.

“She’s done a great job of supporting me in a way that helps to keep my life balanced while staying grounded like she is,” Shields says. “Jen has an Oscar and she’s one of the most famous people in the world, but she’s still super humble and down to earth. She’s really taught me to stay that way.”

Jen has also set an example for Willow with her focused work ethic. “People always talk about how Jen’s so funny, and she is. She lightens the serious on-set mood in a great way,” Shields says. “But they don’t see the fact that when they say ‘action,’ she’s serious about her work and portraying her character the right way. I love that about her—it’s inspiring that she can balance having fun on set while also being serious.”

Their already close bond strengthened during Mockingjay filming “She really is like a sister to me, and when my mom’s not traveling with me, she’s like a mom to me,” Shields says. “She’s so protective over me, and somehow we’ve become even closer while filming Mockingjay, which I didn’t know was possible!”

Willow also found out that there are LOTS of Hunger Games fans in New York, “I was walking around Lincoln Center, and people started yelling, ‘I volunteer as tribute!’"

And so it begins... The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 had its first press day yesterday! Both Lionsgate and Elizabeth Banks posted this cute shot of Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth and Jennifer Lawrence to social media last night. 

 

Elizabeth shared another angle of the shot (above) today to tumblr.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire took home four Teen choice Awards at last night's ceremony in Los Angeles.

Choice Movie Actress: Sci-Fi/Fantasy- Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen

Josh Hutcherson and Donald Sutherland were on hand to accept their awards and Willow Shields also attended. Sadly, Jennifer Lawrence wasn't there to take home her surfboard this year.

Mr. Sutherland gave an epic President Snow-worthy acceptance speech, complete with nightlock berries and a white rose that he tossed into the audience:

Josh talks the "melancholy" end to The Hunger Games films, the wrap party, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and honors his grandfather, Dennis Hutcherson, who passed away later that evening. Our condolences to the Hutcherson family.

'Mockingjay' Wraps and 'The Hunger Games' Cast & Crew React

Josh, Woody, Liam and JenniferWell, that was emotional! Filming for Mockingjay wrapped yesterday and The Hunger Games series is finished filming forever. Sure, there could be a few reshoots, but Josh Hutcherson is already back to brunette and the cast of our beloved films have been sharing their parting thoughts on social media.
