'Mockingjay Part 1' Press Day in London

The Mockingjay Part 1 World Premiere is MONDAY in London, tributes! Today the cast, director, and producer are doing a bunch of press in support of the film.

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Natalie Dormer, Julianne Moore, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Francis Lawrence, and producer Nina Jacobson are all in attendance.

Unfortunately, Josh Hutcherson is still too ill to be there for press day. Get well soon, Josh!

They held a press screening of Mockingjay Part 1 bright and early today, so we should start hearing the reviews (and possibly spoilers - yikes!) after the embargo lifts at 6:59pm ET tomorrow night (Monday the 10th).

Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence made an appearance on the German TV show Wetten, das...?? today amid all kinds of drama. Jennifer was rumored to be ill, and Josh canceled his appearance on the show due to illness. Jen actually says something about strep throat on the show.

New 'Mockingjay Part 1' Clip - Meet The Panem Rebels

Katniss Everdeen meets the Panem Rebellion in this new clip from Mockingjay Part 1 "Meeting The Crew." In a scene that's slightly expanded from the Mockingjay book version of events, Katniss meets the rebels from District 13 in a hovercraft on her way to District 8.

This clip is the one that's hidden in the OurLeaderTheMockingjay app - it's on the hovercraft in the cockpit. Go there (virtually), turn around and look behind you once you're inside - there is a small play triangle button.

Jennifer Lawrence for Madame Le Figaro

Jennifer Lawrence has a new spread and interview in the French Magazine Madame Le Figaro. Check out the beautiful pics thanks to the fab justaboutmisslawrence on tumblr.
The release of Mockingjay - Part 2 in 2015 will mark the end of the saga. What will you take away from this experience?

Jennifer: It's the first time I've played the same role for several years. My character, Katniss, and I, are similar: we live in the countryside, we have to fight to survive in a foreign environment. Katniss has to literally kill to survive, which fortunately is not the case with me! After the events in Catching Fire, she is suffering from post-traumatic stress. In Mockingjay, she is so vulnerable that she must rebuild herself. It was interesting and exciting to grow with her, facing such exceptional circumstances, like when I was learning my craft in Hollywood, where everything was happening at breakneck speed.

Like for Katniss, it seems difficult for you to adapt to your celebrity status...

I hesitated for three long days before accepting The Hunger Games. I dreamed of independent films. I was afraid of being identified as such a prominent character for young people. At 20, you're rarely faced with a decision that will have such an impact on your future. I wasn't sure about wanting this life. But I was afraid of one day regretting missing this opportunity. Since then, I realised that anything I do, at any level, would cause me to lose a part of my private life...
Most stars your age are hyper connected on social media, it's how they maintain their "brand" and the buzz around their careers. Not you. Why? -
It does not interest me for a second! I have hundreds of emails right now! I always had a very clear idea of what I wanted to do: acting, that's all. Unfortunately I can't control my presence in the tabloids. For each "candid" photo published in these magazines, I usually spent three hours playing cat and mouse with photographers. Of course, by contract, I have to have a presence in the media promoting my work. But if I had the choice, you would only see me in the movies ...

Production Notes From Mockingjay Part 1 Released - Runtime, Cast & Crew Interviews + Much More

The awesome production notes for Mockingjay Part 1 have been released on the LionsgateUK PR site and they are a wealth of really cool information from the film. Everything from the official runtime - 123 minutes - to cast interviews, interviews with the make-up artisits, production designers - it's a Mockingjay Jackpot!

Here are OUR favorite bits from the document:

Jennifer Lawrence on Katniss Everdeen:

She goes into the propos feeling like a pawn, like the Mockingjay is just a symbol she’s not connected to or passionate about. The whole idea of the propos is to get people fired up, to band together - so Katniss faking at being something that she’s not doesn’t work. It’s only when she sees the human cost in District 8 that a true spark is ignited. The more she sees, the more it becomes a personal fight for her.

Elizabeth Banks on Effie:

Her new job is to ensure Katniss is the ultimate celebrity face of the rebellion, the perfect Mockingjay. Her job hasn’t really changed from the Games. Effie also remains one of the few people who’s never lied to Katniss. She never had to, because she truly didn’t know what was going on, and now she still has Katniss’ trust,

Producer Nina Jacobson:

It’s a very tense and powerful story and the emotions on screen are surprisingly deep. It takes you to places you will not expect to be taken. It’s provocative, thoughtful and up to the last minutes of the film, the way it unfolds is shocking.

Sam Claflin on Finnick Odair:

"You find out that everything you knew about Finnick, all his bravado and verve, has been largely for show," he comments. "I think for any actor, playing the underside of a beloved character is incredibly interesting' There are moments where he flashes a smile where you'll remember he's still the old Finnick, with all those elements everyone knows and loves, but at the same time, there's a new side I get to reveal."

There are fantastic details on the costumes and make-up - did you know Evan Ross is wearing prosthetic EARS in the film?!

Evan Ross wore prosthetic ears for the prodigiously pierced Messalla. "Messalla has notches cut out of one of his ears, implant piercings and he has quite a bit of Capitol jewelry that would have been typical of someone in his line of work," Neill points out, "And Evan was actually willing to get all those piercings but we would have had to wait for them to heal, so instead, we used prosthetics that Glenn built - and the result was really cool looking."

There's so much incredible information included - it's definitely a must-read. Download the Mockingjay Part 1 production notes HERE

Thanks to our friends at QuarterQuell for the heads up!
